A perfect example of this ability to showcase important themes while being incredibly entertaining is The Ortega Family Musical, a new, Off-Broadway styled show opening up on September 21, 2019, at the Sewell Mill Cultural Arts Center in Marietta, GA.

The Ortega Family Musical follows the story of the titular Ortega’s, a multicultural/multiracial family involving children of an American mother and immigrant father. The musical chronicles their move from Los Angeles to Georgia, and the adjustments they make in their new home. This riveting production balances the hardships and experiences the Ortega’s go through as a multicultural family, inflicted with genuine comedy.

The Ortega Family Musical is the creation of Keylun J. Cruz (Artistic Director/Playwright/Screenwriter/Film Producer/Songwriter/Content Creator), an Atlanta native who has spent most of her whole life working in the entertainment industry. She has won several awards pertaining to her writing career, especially at an early age. Mentored by Tony Award-winning, Kenny Leon at an early age and late Yolanda King (daughter of late Dr Martin Luther King, Jr.). Keylun wrote a lot of theatrical productions for the Youth Dream Team and several other productions. With The Ortega Family Musical project, she hopes to showcase the talent located within Atlanta and execute a full, live national tour, all while creating a high-quality musical that will remain light-hearted and fun for all ages. She is currently releasing two heart-warming documentaries, multiple horror film projects, along with her son, (Youth Filmmaker) Karlian Cruz Ortega.

Karlian Cruz Ortega is a 15-year-old, young Film producer, Writer/Documentarian, and Atlanta native. He is the Co-Creator of The Ortega Family Musical. Karlian is a rising youth filmmaker with strong film work under his belt, equipped with years of industry expertise, knowledge of the film, television, and theatre world.

The Ortega Family Musical is starring Karlian Cruz Ortega along with his talented sibling, actors, (The Ortega Kids)- Karsi Cruz Ortega and Kloee Sky Ortega. This spectacular musical also is starring Nilsa Castro, Tiki J., and Richard Lanford as The Ortega Family. The full cast: Adrienne L. Johnson, Patricia Tinch, Emily Jane, Steve Iefert, Ellen Rice, Tyson Love, Tony Sims, Keylun J. Cruz, and Melissa Tejeda with a flair of scenic, production designs managed by talented Stage Manager, Raymona Thompson, enriched with music composed by Dan Lovette.
