Independent Artist Pledges First Month Streaming Sales to Ocean Preservation

Kansas City, Jul 1, 2019 ( – With a style, all his own, 24-year-old Kansas City-native John Richey looks to shake up the scene and challenge how independent musicians and artists alike are represented. After silently releasing various singles to SoundCloud, John Richey took a short musical hiatus to co-found BNFT Clothing Company in fall of 2018, a charity based clothing brand, but is visibly back and deserving of a spot in your playlist. Focusing on both sides of the spectrum, entertainment value and substance, John Richey serves up a lyrical track coinciding with real-world good being done.

Having opened for artists such as Skippa Da Flippa, Jarren Benton, Tech N9ne’s JL of B-Hood and more, John Richey looks to solidify his spot among those working their way up the industry’s ladder. After securing over 100,000 streams on his 2018 debut single “What You Like”, John Richey follows up with a summertime single titled “Sharks”.

Slated for a July 28th release date, “Sharks” pairs relatable lyrics over a “boom-bap style” beat to create a track deserving of a play through your speakers. In conjunction with BNFT Clothing Company, John Richey has pledged 100% of first month streaming sales to Project AWARE; a non-profit organization focused on marine life and ocean preservation!
