Pamela Dees-Balmer, MSN, RN, CTRN, NRP, FP-C: Leading the Way in Flight Nursing and Trauma Program Innovation

New York City, New York Jun 10, 2025 (Issuewire.com) - With over 35 years of exemplary service in nursing and healthcare, Pamela Balmer, MSN, RN, CTRN, NRP, FP-C, continues to make significant strides in critical care flight nursing and trauma care. Currently serving as the Base Clinical Manager for Survival Flight Base 12 in Cushing, Oklahoma, Pamela is dedicated to managing medical crew operations and community education initiatives while maintaining the necessary skills to treat critical patients in flight.
Pamela began her illustrious nursing career by earning an Associate Degree in Nursing from the University of Arkansas, which laid a robust foundation for her clinical practice and patient care. Her commitment to lifelong learning and professional development propelled her to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University in 2013, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing in 2016.
Throughout her career, Pamela has demonstrated a consultative leadership style that fosters collaboration among multidisciplinary teams. One of her previous roles as the Divisional Director of Clinical Services and Trauma for EmCare Acute Care Surgery (EACS) saw her successfully lead the achievement of trauma center designations for 15 hospital trauma programs across five states. She has also managed the Rio Grande Valleys largest hospital trauma system, which includes four state-designated trauma centers that have achieved historically successful state surveys. She has also served as the Director of Nursing for a Critical Access Hospital, which provided invaluable healthcare resources to multiple rural communities. Her goal-driven and team-building initiatives paved the way for this Critical Access Hospital to attain its first state-designated Stroke Ready Certification. This milestone enabled this hospital and its community members to receive the most up-to-date stroke care and stabilization while networking remotely with neurologists from the University of Arkansas Medical Center.
Pamelas qualifications and extensive experience enable her to engage effectively with various levels of state and ACS-verified trauma centers. Her ability to build and maintain positive relationships among surgeons, administration, and trauma staff has been instrumental in advancing trauma care standards. Additionally, Pamela has held multiple leadership positions with both state and national organizations, including serving as the Texas TSA-V Trauma Coordinator Committee Chair, TTCF Special Populations Committee Co-Chair, Society of Trauma Nurses Mentor, and a member of the FEMA Disaster Response Team. She serves on the Editorial Board of The Online Journal of Issues in Nursing and is an active member of the Emergency Nurses Association, staying at the forefront of nursing practices and innovations.
Pamela attributes her success to the invaluable guidance of her mentors throughout her career. Their wisdom and encouragement have played a pivotal role in shaping her professional growth, instilling in her the confidence, skills, and compassion that define her approach to nursing today. This influence drives Pamelas commitment to excellence and her unwavering dedication to making a meaningful impact in the lives of her patients.
